2009: The artist Post Mortem. Managing literary heritage

What are the posibilites we have in promoting and managing the life and works of an artist – locally, nationally and internationally? Which challenges and dilemmas arise when we consider the biographical, artistical and geographical background of the artist?

How may this influence people, places and new art forms?

The conference was moderated by Knut Olav Åmås, culture and debate editor at Aftenposten.
Speakers was John Lennon, Director of the Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism Business Development, in addition to Tore Slaatta and Odd Are Berkaak from the University of Oslo.

Birthplaces in Great Britain and Chile shared their experiences: Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon, James Joyce in Dublin and Dylan Thomas in Swansea. From Chile, the works of Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda was presented. The manager of the Hamsun centre shared her views on the foundation of the centre in Hamarøy.

Stuff and accursed lies – walk in and around Henrik Ibsens birth town.

The winner of The International Ibsen Award, Ariane Mnouchkine from Théâtre du Soleil, joined us via Skype.
